Excellent post, Rebekah. Yes, the MSM has completely and utterly and criminally failed us, especially during the past three unfathomably nightmarish years. I am gobsmaked by the media's lies, obfuscations, and pathetic attempts to discredit free thinkers, narrative dissidents, and anyone warning against these garbage jabs. Thank the gods for people like you on Substack. I would be a raving, teeth-gnashing loon by now without you.

The MSM surely must be choking on the absolute toxicity of the volume of lies, discrimination, corruption & censorship they have injested and spew... The time will come soon when our receipts will be necessary...

"All true Experts believe that Covid vaccines are safe and effective."

Here is a simple way to rebut(t) such line:

1. Define "all", "experts", "believe", "vaccines", "safe", and "effective".

2. Prove them by citing three credible studies or data sets for each word.

"Believe"? Are we talking about "science" or "religion"?

The above would stop any one or anything - including covid! - who/which makes that statement!

Always apply "you claim, you prove" to any interlocutor.

Thanks for elucidating those fallacy types Rebekah.

I saw that our Australian "Misinformation Corrector" championing a tweet of someone trying to discredit Dr Malhotra

https://twitter.com/DrSusanOliver1/status/1615180061216497664?s=20&t=0wINJhd-BucWIRcqVPtC_g

The points include that

- his paper was published in Journal of Insulin Resistance and degrading that Journal shows that he can't be right.

- his father is South Asian and apparently some study showed South Asians have cardiac issues earlier, therefore it couldn't have been mRNA, even though Dr Malhotra, a cardiologist, intimately knew his fathers health history

- trying to rubbish the PULS score

There are other specific references to papers. I'm sure there may be some valid points in them. But as you have pointed out there is this assumption that everything he says must be wrong because he has come to an alternative viewpoint

Very good piece. Thank you for publishing it. I just spent 15 interesting minutes learning about "Motte and Bailey". : )

I made detailed comments about Dr. Aseem Malhotra's real expertise about cardiology in the comments section of the You Tube interview he did with Dr.John Campbell last year. If you and your readers haven't watched the discussion you should.

Keep up the good work Rebekah.

Laughable an MD second opinion is a hijacking.. must be a risk for going at the speed of science.

I would be curious to know what “safe vaccine” is and how a claim of the existence of such a thing can be made. Kids are sicker than ever, few of them have intact immune systems anymore, autism rates are skyrocketing, but the never tested against placebo vaccines from pharmaceutical companies (that we don’t trust when it comes to Covid vaccines, Vioxx and other fiascos, but somehow totally trust when it comes to other vaccines) are “safe” and have nothing to do with it??

Very good, and useful summary of the "how the magic trick is done" logical fallacies,

So tragic that he had to order an autopsy on his own father, killed by the jab.

The Mink debate was a tour de force for the good guys to say it colloquially. I agree that Gladwell and Goldberg were embarrassingly inept. But I feel that Taibi, and even moreso, Douglas Murray outclassed the former two so astoundingly, that the audience could not have voted otherwise and affirm the Pro-side. I'm not so sure by the way that the NYT is all that much worse now (during COVID and after) than it was for the past 40 years or so quite frankly. However, I think that there are some people, formerly of a liberal/left wing persuasion, who are starting to see reality. If they were to simply now look back at the NYT and other literary, entertainment, and sociological icons but with newly opened post-COVID eyes, they'd see that in fact things were already beginning to rot but that most of the rot was ignored or perceived as being deep analytical thought.

No surprises here. Dr Peter McCullough, another top cardiologist, was given the same treatment.

Top job Rebekah.

Most people think they 'know' logical fallacies, and that they would never work on them; in totally unrelated news, most people support the Covid and vaccine narrative...

PS I listened when it came out, and that was a fascinating Munk debate indeed (second only to the Political Correctness one, with the incredible Stephen Fry :-) ). I agree completely with your comments; Taibbi was good, Murray was excellent, but the debate was lost even more than won, by the terrible, ad hominem and incredibly ideological Gladwell, particularly.
